Drupal distributions for OpenAid

OpenAid is implemented in Drupal, the award-winning open source content management system. In true crowdsourcing spirit Drupal is being developed and maintained by more than a thousand people worldwide. Its modular architecture makes it very easy to implement and deploy new modules that extend the core functionality. OpenAid uses about 15 such 'contributed' modules. The most time consuming aspect of implementing OpenAid (as with most new websites) was not creating the infrastructure (Actually, there was very little programming involved!), but rather defining the goals of the website and then coming up with a design and layout that work towards those goals. With the recently added ability to create installation packages for Drupal (see Fully packaged Drupal distributions now deployed on drupal.org) a new website like OpenAid can be up and running with a click of the mouse. The implications for OpenAid are apparent. Setting up a new website for public online monitoring of a development aid project is now a matter of minutes instead of days. All that is needed is a fitting Drupal distribution, i.e. a definition of which modules are included and how they are configured. Does anyone want to give it a try?
