Who will be the first German NGO to publish to the International Aid Transparency Initiative? Until now your non-profit organisation can still be the IATI pioneer in Germany. In order to inform German non-profit organisations about IATI the German network of NGOs working in development cooperation VENRO is inviting its members to an IATI workshop on the 4th of December in Bonn.

The workshop jointly organised by VENRO and the OpenAid project will present the rational for NGOs to join this international initiative to make the aid system as a whole more transparent. Other transparency initiatives so far have focused on the transparency of individual organisations. In this respect IATI is an important contribution to more transparent and effective aid.

NGOs in other countries such as the Netherlands and Britain have already implemented IATI and more general open data strategies. Therefore representatives of the Dutch and British NGOs platforms PARTOS and BOND as well as the head of accounting from Transparency International will share their experiences of implementing IATI. Focus of the workshop will be the reality of NGOs and concrete steps to implement IATI. For more information please contact claudia [dot] schwegmannatopenaid [dot] de.
