In recent years there has been a growing number of e-government and e-governance initiatives in both developed and developing countries to make use of the potential of ICT for better service provision and public accountability. In order to foster the use of ICTs, infoDev, a project of the Worldbank and other international agencies promoting ICTs for development, has elaborated in online guidance on for policy makers on e-government. This guidance presents the current state of knowledge on e-government and formulates conditions for successful application of ICT in the field of development.
