Aid effectiveness is to a large extent about improving cooperation, avoiding duplication of efforts and enhanced coordination. Thus working in networks is essential. The goals of our networking activites are:
- Identifying individuals and organisations in Germany working on aid transparency and related issues.
- Creating a network of committed stakeholders to advance the aid transparency agenda in Germany.
- Creating alliances with individuals and organisations outside of Germany for mutual learning.
For OpenAid aid transparency is but one form of government transparency and should be seen in the overall context of the opendata movement. Therefore we are networking with opendata activists in Germany and Europe.
For us aid transparency not only concerns government agencies but also NGOs, development cooperation of cities and the Länder and small scale partnerships of churches, schools, business. Our networking efforts include these stakeholders.
For aid transparency to improve aid effectiveness feedback mechanisms and public fora for development discourse need to be in place. Media experts in traditional and new media are crucial partners in our understand.
Aid transparency is a cross-cutting issue like gender and climate and should be treated as such. OpenAid aims to build cooperations with organisations working in different fields of development cooperation. Links to actors working in governance, anti-corruption and capacity building are our priority.
