OpenAid on Facebook

Despite controversies about data security, the number of Facebook users is growing daily. Particularly in the South Facebook is not a domaine reserved for youth. We are convinced that social media can play an important role in advocay. Therefore we have created an OpenAid site on Facebook and a "cause" promoting aid transparency and social accountability. The objective of this site is to share news about aid transparency and more generally about social accountability: how NGOs use social media for their cause, information about corruption, examples how communities organise themselves to hold governments to account. Technology has a lot of potential to promote accountability, therefore we particularly want to share examples of e-transparency: how people around the world use technology to promote governance on a local or national level or at the level of aid projects.
